I used to think burnout was a normal part of work.

A cardiologist’s journey from treating heart disease to understanding the human cost of chronic pressure.

The Story Behind the Work

For years, I was the classic overachieving physician. Harvard-trained. Busy cardiology practice. Successful by every external measure.

I was also exhausted, anxious, and slowly disconnecting from the work I once loved. I believed grinding through stress was simply the price of responsibility.

What changed my approach was realizing that many of my patients were living the same way. Many were showing up with physical symptoms. And I began to notice patterns: leaders, clinicians, and professionals carrying relentless pressure in their bodies, relationships, and inner lives. We were addressing consequences, not causes.

That realization shifted my work from treating disease to understanding how chronic stress, disconnection, and loss of meaning quietly erode both health and leadership.

What I Study and Teach

My work sits at the intersection of human physiology, psychology, mindfulness, and leadership science.

I study how pressure shapes the body, the nervous system, emotional patterns, and behavior—often beneath awareness—and how integration across the heart and mind restores clarity, resilience, and connection.

Much of this work is organized around:

  • The Four Dimensions of Well-Being: physical, emotional, social, and spiritual

  • The Seven Timeless Traits of the Heart: steady capacities that support wise leadership under pressure

  • The patterns that quietly undermine—or restore—resilience, trust, and purpose

This is not about slowing down for its own sake. It’s about learning how humans actually function under sustained demand.
